H5 Strategies Announces Changes to Executive Leadership: Comins Branching Out, Pisaroglu Moving Up06 Jan 2020
January 1, 2020 (BUCHAREST, ROMANIA): Marshall Comins is leaving his chief executive officer position at H5 Strategies to concentrate on developing his Washington-based strategic consultancy focused on Russia, the rest of the former Soviet Union, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The change will also enable him to play a more active role in the daily operations of an offshore oil and gas client in Grenada.
Tony Pisaroglu, H5’s senior international vice president, will replace Comins as CEO of the Romania-based crisis management and business-development company, with Comins becoming a non-executive director. Pisaroglu, who was an honorary advisor to former Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila from June to November 2019, teamed up with Comins to found H5 Strategies in 2017.
“I’m delighted with the progress H5 has made since we founded the company,” said Comins, whose clients over the years have included government agencies, politicians and high-net-worth individuals in the former Soviet Union and Africa. “In a little over two years, we have grown the company from a start-up into a leader in the crisis management and public affairs market in Romania.”
H5 devised and implemented campaign strategies for a Romanian presidential-election candidate and a party fielding candidates for the European Parliament. H5 also advised Romania’s flagship telecommunications company during a commercial crisis.
Comins is also the founder and CEO of the Washington-based strategic consultancy Volksstratege, a company with expertise in Russia, the rest of the former Soviet Union, and Africa, with a particular focus on Nigeria, Cameroon and Zimbabwe.
“A key part of our work is helping political and business clients dealing with imminent or ongoing crises — or, ideally, laying the groundwork to prevent a crisis from occurring in the first place,” he said. “We also help them convey their interests in ways that the public, media and governments understand and appreciate.”
Comins became senior advisor to the executive director of the Grenada-based Global Petroleum Group (GPG) in October 2018. GPG’s development of offshore oil and gas fields in the Caribbean is approaching the implementation phase.
Comins is a Russian-speaking strategic consultant with a master’s degree in international relations and economics, with a concentration in strategic studies, from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
A former professional rugby player, Pisaroglu was an advisor to two of Romania’s most prominent entrepreneurs before entering the strategic-marketing and international business-development fields.
In addition to the top-management change, Mfonobong Nsehe, who previously served as H5 Strategies’ managing partner for Sub-Saharan Africa, will assume the role of independent advisor for Africa-related investment and communications issues.
